The following is a series of recordings made during my time studying with Ustadh Majdi Khalifa in Cairo, Egypt where he summarises the main sciences of the Shari’ah giving the student of Islamic textual knowledge a good overview of each subject area and a useful revision aid.

Part 1: Introduction to the Series

The second part in a series looking to introduce Arabic speaking viewers to the textual sciences of Islam. Ustadh Majdi Ahmed Khalifa summarises ‘Ilm an-Nahw (The science of Arabic grammar) which is a foundational prerequisite for any student hoping to embark on a study of the textual sciences of Islam.

Part 3: as-Sarf – Arabic Morphology

Part 5: Maqasid ash-Shari’ah – Higher Objectives of Islamic Law & Ethics

The fifth part in a series looking to introduce Arabic speaking viewers to the textual sciences of Islam. Ustadh Majdi Ahmed Khalifa summarises Maqasid ash-Shari’ah (The Higher Objectives of Islamic Law and Ethics).

This subject is foundational and gives us a broad understanding of Islam, an overview of its aims, objectives and ethics, The science of Maqasid presents us with the ‘big picture,’ a holistic and high level framework in which we can understand and appreciate the remaining sciences of Islam.

Part 6: Usool al-Fiqh – Foundational Principles of Islamic Jurisprudence

The sixth part in a series looking to introduce Arabic speaking viewers to the textual sciences of Islam. Ustadh Majdi Ahmed Khalifa summarises Usool al-Fiqh (The Foundational Principles of Islamic Jurisprudence).

This subject is foundational to our understanding of Islamic law and gives us an appreciation and understanding of the sources of Islamic law, the inherent facilitation and wisdom within and the tools employed by jurists when addressing new situations and legal questions.
